Legal Information
Scope of Practice & Service Limitations
My practice operates in strict adherence to the Veterinary Surgeons Registration Ordinance (Cap. 529) and the professional standards for veterinary nurses in Hong Kong. My role is to provide supportive, paraprofessional care under the umbrella of veterinary direction. Transparency regarding my scope is paramount for the safety and legality of your pet's care.
I am not a veterinarian. I am not a licensed physiotherapist. My services do not replace veterinary diagnosis, treatment, or medication.
Services I Do NOT Provide
To ensure absolute clarity and legal compliance, I expressly do not offer the following:
Veterinary Diagnosis, Prescriptions, or Prognoses: I am not a Registered Veterinary Surgeon. I cannot diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medications, or provide a prognosis.
Independent Physiotherapy or Rehabilitation Evaluations: I do not conduct initial assessments to establish a new diagnosis or create an independent rehabilitation plan. I do not provide physiotherapy conditioning, strengthening programs, or rehabilitation assessments.
Services Requiring Direct Veterinary Supervision: Any procedure or act legally defined as an act of veterinary surgery must be performed by or under the direct, immediate supervision of a Registered Veterinary Surgeon. I do not perform such acts.
Acting Against Veterinary Directions: I will not provide any service that contradicts the treatment plan, advice, or diagnosis of your primary veterinarian.
Treatment of Undiagnosed Conditions: My therapeutic services are intended for managing known, veterinarian-diagnosed conditions or for general wellness. They are not a substitute for a veterinary examination for a new or worsening problem.
Independent Application of Therapeutic Modalities: Therapeutic modalities (including cold laser, PEMF, red light therapy, and thermotherapy) are applied only when prescribed by a veterinarian or licensed physiotherapist as part of a treatment plan. I do not independently prescribe or apply these modalities.
Client Responsibility
Clients are responsible for providing accurate and complete information about their dog's health, behaviour, and veterinary history. Failure to disclose relevant information may affect the safety and appropriateness of services.
Record Keeping & Communication
Session notes are maintained for all clients and are available to referring veterinarians or physiotherapists upon request. I welcome and encourage communication with your veterinary team to ensure cohesive, safe, and effective care.
Acknowledgment
By engaging my services, you acknowledge that I am a Certified Veterinary Nurse providing supportive care within my legal and professional scope, and not a substitute for primary veterinary medical care.
